Teachers

Our Sunday school teachers have decades of experience working with children in Christian education. They are fun, caring, thoughtful people who do this work because it is their calling. The curriculum is always age appropriate, incorporates multiple learning modalities, and is Christ centered. All teachers undergo a background check and parents are welcome to sit in on the class anytime.

What to Expect on Sunday

Sunday School is offered every Sunday at 9:30 during the regular worship service. The entrance to Sunday school is through Room 5 in the preschool building. There will be a sign that says Sunday School to direct you to the correct location. Each week there is a teacher and an adult helper to supervise the children. At times, the children attend and participate in portions of the adult worship service. We have a multi-age group and all ages are welcome, but our lessons are planned for children ages 3-12.

Love God. Love one another.

These two important sentences guide St. Andrew's Sunday School. The children who gather each Sunday morning are introduced to the love and grace of God through Bible stories and activities in the context of the community of faith that supports them as they grow. Our broadly-graded group enjoys time in our beautiful protected yard for imaginative and active play. Our mornings together are definitely fun and include time for singing, prayer, creative activities with friends, storytelling, and discussion as we encounter Jesus, his friends and followers. In the stories of the Bible we meet the people of God who lived long ago, but whose lives we learn from even today.

We primarily use Presbyterian Church(USA) curriculum: Growing in Grace and Gratitude, and Growing in God's Love: A Story Bible Curriculum.  In age-appropriate ways the children explore with their teachers how the stories of the Bible show us how to live as Jesus' followers today.

The children are growing up together surrounded by faithful teachers and supporting adults who they know and love. These adults seek to share the values important to our community of intellectual and spiritual curiosity, kindness and respect for all, and serving others with hearts full of gratitude. The congregation welcomes our children into worship on a regular basis, not just to participate, but also when the children have service or leadership to offer.
